Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be landmine-free by 2019 as previously plan because of a lack of money. Bosnia and Herzegovina are marking International Mine Awareness Day on Tuesday.Since 1996, more than 3,000 square kilometers have been cleared. However, more than 1,750 people were victims of landmine incidents - including at least 612 fatalities - during this period.
EU Peacekeepers Ready to Intervene in Bosnia in Case of New Strife
The European Union peacekeeping force (EUFOR) in Bosnia warned the political leaders on Tuesday that they were prepared to intervene should violence resume two decades after the end of its ethnic war that killed 100,000 people."A lot has been achieved but a lot can be lost again," Major General Anton Waldner said at a ceremony in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo marking his takeover of the command of EUFOR, which has 800 troops deployed in Bosnia.
Aleksandar Vucic travels to Bosnia one day after hiselection victory
While in Mostar, Vucic will meet with Dragan Covic, the Croat member of the tripartite Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Their meeting will take place ahead of the opening on Tuesday of the International Fair of Economy, which will last through April 8 according to the Presidency website. Vucic led a state and business delegation at this regional event last year. According to announcements, Croatian PM Andrej Plenkovic and Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic will be at the fair this year. In his address on Sunday after his victory in the presidential elections, Vucic announced he would also meet with Plenkovic.
